Halloo!

It's already March! Time flies, but somehow it still surprises some of us.

There's plenty of activity in the group right now - book club discussions, movie discussions, and of course the usual random chats about things like peas versus peaches. It's all in good fun, so come on over and join in anything that piques your interest. If you're relatively new to the group, check out the group homepage and just scroll through the discussions and see if anything looks worth popping in to say Hello. We love it when someone comes along and wakes up a good old thread.

Now, onto the usual goodies... freebies at the end. :-P

"The Lost Thorn is a science fiction novel with a strong, albeit insane, female protagonist. It fuses the ideas of cyberpunk with dashes of urban fantasy. It's a heart pounding adventure told from the perspective of a highly unstable and chaotic girl who has lost everything she held dear, leaving her with just a powerful drug as a means to cope with the inescapable pain."

Clearly the AW group just can't get enough Scalzi, amiright? This is our third book by him. Only one other time have we read the same author more than once (Philip K. Dick).

For fans of Star Trek, humor, sci-fi, and anything Scalzi, don't miss this one.

Do you wanna play a game?

Ahem, erm... sorry, that's not supposed to sound like the intro to a horror movie.

Seriously, do you want to play a game? It's a reading challenge! Thanks to AW group member Leslie (aka BasesLoaded24) there is this nifty reading challenge based on The Walking Dead tv show. Basically you roll the dice then have to select a book that matches the criteria for that number, e.g. "read a book where someone travels", "read a book that has a character named Rick in it" or "read a gross or scary book".

The Walking Dead Board Game: Join Us!

All it takes is a few folks to join in and you've got yourself a challenge. Choose your style of game play, some options provided, or customize to your liking.

Have fun, and thanks Leslie!
