Hello AW'ers.

Sorry about the late newsletter this month - I just moved and had some personal things to deal with, but things are getting back on track. See below for the latest updates on our book club, giveaways, freebies... you know, the usual good stuff. :-)

There has been a lot going on in the world recently, such as the fires and floods in the U.S., so I wanted to take a moment to send out some well-wishes to anyone affected by these events. Remember that even though we are a group with many "virtual" friends, if there is every anything we can do to help, it is worth asking.

Now, onto the light stuff...

-That's all she wrote.-

I hope you enjoyed the newsletter — if you have any questions or notice any errors, just send me a message!

Apocalyptically yours,

Gertie

The Apocalypse Whenever book club: taking nominations for 2018
NEXTThe Old Man and the Wasteland by Nick Cole
NOW: Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

"Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.

When his friend inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn…"

"Forty years after the destruction of civilization... Man is reduced to salvaging the ruins of a broken world. One man’s most prized possession is Hemingway’s Classic ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’ With the words of the novel echoing across the wasteland, a survivor of the Nuclear Holocaust journeys into the unknown to break a curse.

What follows is an incredible tale of survival and endurance.
One man must survive the desert wilderness and mankind gone savage to discover the truth of Hemingway’s classic tale of man versus nature.
Part Hemingway, part Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, a suspenseful odyssey into the dark heart of the Post-Apocalyptic American southwest.

A book lover’s action flick."
